Application Timeline

Plan your study-abroad application timeline from exam preparation and university research to documents, applications, admits, funding, and visa preparation.

“When to Start?”

Most students miss the deadline because they don’t know the process takes 1 Year. If you want to join in August 2026 (Fall), you must start in August 2025.

The 1-Year Roadmap

August - September (Preparation)

  • GRE/GMAT: Study and take the exam. If score is low, retake immediately.
  • Shortlisting: Pick 8-10 universities (3 Ambitious, 3 Moderate, 3 Safe).

October - November (Documentation)

  • TOEFL/IELTS: Take the English test (it’s easy, just get it done).
  • SOP (Statement of Purpose): Write your story. Draft 1 -> Draft 10.
  • LOR (Letters of Rec): Annoy your professors to upload the letters.

December - January (Applications)

  • Deadlines: Most US Top 50 colleges have deadlines in Dec/Jan.
  • Submit: Pay the application fees (5050-100 per college).

March - April (Results)

  • You will start getting “Accept” or “Reject” emails.
  • Acceptance: Choose ONE college and pay the deposit.

May - July (Visa & Logistics)

  • I-20 Form: The college sends you this proof of admission.
  • Visa Interview (F1): The scariest part. Prove you have money and intent to study.
  • Flight Tickets: Book early to save money.

The “Hidden” Costs of Applying

  • Exams (GRE+TOEFL): ₹25,000
  • Application Fees (8 colleges): ₹60,000
  • Score Reporting: ₹10,000
  • Counseling (Optional): ₹20,000+
  • Total: Expect to spend ~₹1 Lakh just on the application process.
