RSS Job Tracking

Learn how to use RSS feeds and automation tools to track job listings from multiple sources and centralize new opportunities.

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) lets you receive updates whenever a website publishes new content. If a job portal or company careers page supports RSS, you can track new openings without manually checking the website every day.

Note: Many modern job platforms no longer provide public RSS feeds. In those cases, use their built-in email or mobile job alerts instead.

Platforms with RSS Support

Remote OKOfficial RSS feed for remote jobs.
We Work RemotelyOfficial RSS feed for new remote jobs.

Hacker News – Who’s HiringMonthly hiring thread available via RSS.

Company Engineering BlogsMany companies publish engineering updates through RSS.

Platforms Without Official RSS

Use their built-in job alerts instead.

Company Career Pages

Most company career pages do not provide RSS feeds.

Instead:

  • Subscribe to their job alerts.
  • Follow them on LinkedIn.
  • Enable email notifications if available.

Should You Use RSS?

RSS is helpful if you:

  • Prefer tracking updates in one place.
  • Follow remote job boards.
  • Track engineering blogs or open-source communities.

For most students, job alerts on LinkedIn, Naukri, Wellfound, and company career pages are more useful than RSS.

Final Advice

RSS is a nice addition to your job search, but it shouldn’t be your primary strategy.

For the best results:

  • Use LinkedIn Job Alerts.
  • Enable email alerts on job portals.
  • Follow hiring influencers.
  • Subscribe to company career notifications.
  • Use RSS only for platforms that officially support it.
