For a typical engineering college in India, campus placements usually follow a fairly predictable yearly cycle.

The exact months vary by college, but the pattern generally looks like this:

August	Companies start registering and sharing job requirements
September	First companies begin conducting tests and recruitment drives
October	Placement activity increases; more companies conduct online assessments
November	Heavy recruitment period with coding tests, aptitude tests and interviews
December	Peak placement season; many companies conduct their campus drives
January	Second wave of companies and additional recruitment
February	Continued campus drives and hiring for remaining positions
March	Fewer companies, but additional drives may continue
April – May	Final campus drives and remaining opportunities
June onwards	Mostly off-campus opportunities, depending on the college

Typical Company Hiring Flow

When a company visits the college, the process usually happens in this order:

1. Company Registration	Company shares role, eligibility, salary and requirements
2. Pre-Placement Talk	Company explains the role, work, hiring process and compensation
3. Application	Eligible students register
4. Shortlisting	Students may be shortlisted based on CGPA, branch, backlogs or resume
5. Online Assessment	Aptitude, coding, technical MCQs, SQL or other tests
6. Technical Interview	DSA, CS fundamentals, projects and programming
7. HR / Managerial Round	Communication, behavioral and role-related questions
8. Final Selection	Selected students receive the offer
